Standardization creates stability and security
Critical key factor of IT processes
In the context of sustainable business strategies the design of IT processes is a critical key factor. The standardized and qualified coordination between business and IT is substantial for the increase of process efficiency and quality.

Estimation as a basic/fundamental/critical process
Our systematic application of methodologies and standardized approaches enable the establishment of efficient and effective IT processes. The Cost Xpert estimation process is a critical process of sustainable applications with the objective of continuous optimization and stabilization of the estimation process and the process cycles for sustainable increase of business performance. This refers to the entire application lifecycle – from the first idea to requirements, development and implementation, versions and releases, documentation, quality and testing and working costs to the end of life. Already in the feasibility phase our estimation process will systematically run through. During project run, new requirements and changes are continuously considered and immediately integrated into the estimation process. We support international proceeding models as well as industry standards and standards for process quality (e.g. SEI CMMI, EN/ISO 15504 „SPICE“).

For us the support of customer specific, individual business strategies and objectives are important:
  • Reproducibility of the estimation
  • Defined and standardized processes
  • Monitoring and controlling of the processes
  • Continuous and systematic optimization
Process models are the frame of estimation and used to control of complexity
Effort and cost of bug fixing/debugging do not act linear but increase disproportional. Hence, the choice of the process model is of long-range relevance. Our methodology supports all scientifically published process models and de-facto industry standards up to the accurate mapping of customer specific process models. This enables the support of any business process and serviceoriented IT organisation and ensures detailed transparency about process activities and interaction of activities. To analyze existing process models the following processes will be identified and differentiated in:
  • Development process (e.g. sequential, iterative, agile or meta-model)
  • Documentation process (e.g. IEEE/EIA 12207, RTCA Do 178A-D, MIL-STD-498)
  • Testing and verification processes (if not part of the development process)
  • Implementation and maintenance process (if not part of the development process)
Construction of customer specific process models
Together with our customers Cost Xpert develops individual process models for the comprehensive process and project optimization. The mapping of customer specific process models allows target-oriented analyses and ensures the identification of weak points. Further, process benchmarking allows the comparison of any process model versions. Thus, opportunities for comprehensive process optimization become visible and create transparency about dependencies and impacts. Above, Cost Xpert advises and supports the construction and implementation of a customer specific master process and/or project type or component-based process model.

Integration of a standardized solution into business process systems
With the implementation of the Cost Xpert estimation process our customers obtain a standardized practice-oriented solution and integration into already existing business process systems. Thereby, the orientation at the customer specific value added chain is mandatory for us.

Sustainable increase of competitive advantage
The result is a significant shortening of the estimation process itself while improving the estimation accuracy. Based on industry standards and project type specific best-practice approaches we show our customers growth and saving potentials over the entire application lifecycle. This establishes our customers an early market entrance (“time to market”) or entrance/access into new markets and leads to increasing competitive advantage while having planning security significantly improved and risk minimized.

Our estimation process ensures a significant shortening of estimation process while improving estimation accuracy.
